Kaisei Academy
Completion of new high school building as part of Kaisei Academy’s 150th anniversary commemoration project.
Background
The Kaisei Academy is a junior and senior high school founded in 1871 in Nishinippori, Arakawa Ward, Tokyo. It is a school with history and tradition that, as the oldest private school in the country in secondary education, continues to produce a large number of talented individuals who lead each era. As part of Kaisei’s 150th anniversary commemorative project, a new school building has been completed by rebuilding the existing high school building. Video, audio, and ICT equipment have been introduced in classrooms, gymnasiums, and auditoriums to accommodate diversified lessons using the latest IT equipment and an active-learning approach.
Systems
◆Small Hall
This small, stepped auditorium can accommodate around 100 people. We installed a 200-inch electric screen and a 7500-lumen video projector that projects with a mid-focal lens from the master control room at the rear of the hall. An on-stage AV console has been installed so that all operations can be performed from the stage. As this is a movable console, changing its position and orientation allows for adaptability to various events. Electro-Voice speakers have been used to provide high sound quality and ease of listening. We have also installed broadcast capabilities using the school network so that events in the auditorium can be relayed to other classrooms.
◆Standard Classroom
This classroom has been equipped with a magnetic screen and an ultra-short-throw projector, allowing for interactive lessons to be conducted. To prepare the classroom for foreign language listening tests and to improve sound quality throughout the room, we have installed line array speakers. By positioning these on both sides of the blackboard, sound can be delivered clearly to the students in the back of the classroom.
◆Multi-Purpose Room A
Here, a total of four liquid crystal displays have been installed, with two 50-inch LCD screens positioned on the front wall and two ceiling-mounted in the center of the classroom. Line array speakers have been placed on both sides of the blackboard to eliminate audio and video blind spots for students in the rear seats.
◆Multi-Purpose Room B
This classroom has been equipped with a 120-inch manual screen, a 4200-lumen video projector, and line array speakers, with an AV rack installed to facilitate simple operation. With screen positioning taken into consideration, the system does not interfere with writing on the board even during projection.
◆Gymnasium
We installed a large 300-inch electric screen at the front of the gymnasium. The 12000-lumen projector projects from a mobile platform, and as such can be moved into position when projection is required. To provide audio, we installed industry-standard line array speakers that can be operated from an AV rack in an adjacent control room. This equipment also allows events and ceremonies held in the gymnasium to be broadcast directly to classrooms through the school network.
Testimonial
We have heard that with functions that are simple yet fully meet their needs, Kaisei is using these new installations on a daily basis—not only for classes and lectures, but also for a wide range of purposes.
